I was humbled to be able donate my books to the resource library at Stephen’s Center! When I first started feeling the tug on my heart to share parts of my story, my hope was that my book would somehow, by the Grace of God, end up in rehabilitation facilities. I just wanted other hurting people to know, in an intimate way, that they aren’t alone in their feelings of exhaustion and hopelessness. Of course, we don’t all “hit rock bottom” in order to want something new. But those of us who experienced Complex Childhood Trauma tend to live as exhausted or hopeless people-until we come to realize that there ARE other ways to exist; that healing is possible no matter how much pain we’ve endured or how much time we’ve been running, hiding, or freezing in isolation.
My heart feels overwhelmed with gratitude and awe- that God not only called me to live a different life-but that He is using my story- the dark parts that I thought ruined me and any chance I may have had to live a “normal” life, to help others come out of their darkness.
It feels overwhelming to try and go about healing on our own-but together, we can encourage and inspire one another to step out of our comfort zones, and into these new, amazing worlds we didn’t believe we could touch.
I am so thankful for the people who orchestrated this to make sure that so many different authors were able to send their books to Stephen’s Center. What a wonderful reminder-that we’re not alone.
